Gen. W.R. Peers was directed by the Secretary of the Army to review the possible suppression or withholding of information by persons involved in the My Lai Incident, in which 504 civilians were killed. This book, published more than 10 years after the incident, is a comprehensive account of the operation itself and of the Army's inquiry into the events. Based on more than 26,000 pages of testimony from 403 witnesses, Peers inquiry recommended that charges be brought against 28 officers and 2 NCO's involved in a cover-up of the massacre. In the end, 1 solider, Lt. William Calley, was convicted for the murder of 104 villagers. 306 pgs., modestly illustrated with B/W photographs, red boards are very lightly bumped, red and black DJ is lightly chipped and creased, small closed tear on foot of front cover, many pages have been dog-eared.
